On Friday, at around 6:30 a.m. a three vehicle crash took place on Interstate Highway 27 at mile marker 48.
A 2019 Ford EcoSport was traveling southbound in the northbound travel lanes on Interstate Highway 27. A 2018 Chevrolet Pickup Truck was traveling northbound in the north travel lanes, and Vehicles one and two collided head-on.
After the collision between the EcoSport and the pickup truck, a 2001 Chevrolet passenger vehicle collided with the pick-up truck. The Chevy Passenger vehicle had been traveling northbound on IH27 behind the pickup truck.
The driver of the EcoSport, Evelyn Merced-Rojas, 25 of Kemp, Tx, was pronounced deaceased due to the injuries sustained during the crash. The driver of the pickup truck, Deja Sade Garcia, 25, of Midland, Tx, was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock for injuries sustained during the crash.
The passenger from the pick-up truck, Jared Jeffrey Smtih, 25 of Midland, Tx, was also transported to UMC in Lubbock for injuries sustained during the crash. The driver of the Chevy Passenger vehicle, Edwin Antonio Argueta, 54, of Plainview, was transported to Covenant Hospital in Plainview for injuries sustained during the crash.
