Shaun Lewallen leads the BBC heading into the Final Four

The Lamb County Leader-News’ Big Bracket Challenge is winding down with just the Final Four and National Championship game remaining.

A shake-up in the standings after the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 has Shaun Lewallen sitting in first place with 80 points, while Ed Dabrowski is right behind him with 79 points and Tammy Kirkland with 78 points.

In the Sweet 16 in the East Region, UConn blew past San Diego State, 82-52, while Illinois edged out Iowa State, 72-69.

In the Sweet 16 in the West Region, four-seed Alabama shocked one-seed North Carolina, 89-87, while six-seed Clemson upset twoseed Arizona, 77-72.

In the Sweet 16 in the South Region, four-seed Duke took down one-seed Houston, 54-51, while 11seed NC State upset two-seed Marquette, 67-58.

In the Sweet 16 in the Midwest Region, Tenneesee took care of Creighton, 82-75, while Purdue handled Gonzaga, 80-68.

In the Elite 8 in the East Region, UConn rolled past Illinois, 77-52.

In the Elite 8 in the West Region, Alabama advanced with an, 89-82, victory over Clemson.

In the Elite 8 in the South Region, 11-seed NC State kept their Cinderella run alive, taking down four-seed Duke, 76-64.

In the Elite 8 in the Midwest Region, Purdue edged out Tennessee, 72-66.

The rest of the field is as follows: Hannah Conkin and Mark Grace are tied with 77 points, while Larry Ashley has 76 points and Oscar Sanchez, Patricia Lopez and Robin Neinast are tied with 75 points. J.C. Orozco and Richard Orozco are tied with 74 points, while Brian Conkin, Derek Lopez and Jennifer Wilson-Conkin are tied with 71 points.

Joe Lopez and Teresa Dabrowski are tied with 70 points, while Kristina Robinson has 69 points and Ben Diaz, Janet Conkin and Martin Duran are tied with 67 points. Lauren Petty has 65 points, while Kara Silvas and Sheryl Lewallen are tied with 63 points.

Brenden Carter has 62 points, while Stacy Guy has 61 points, and Dwight Lewallen has 60 points. Brooke Boeckmed and Johnny Rosemond are tied with 58 points, while Ben Eastepp has 56 points and Richard Carter has 55 points. Brett Neinast and Lonnie Neinast tied with 52 points, while Elisardo Cueto has 46 points and Zeb Petty rounds out the field with 45 points.

The Final results will be posted next week with the Final Four taking place this weekend and the Championship on April 8th.
