I usually check the weather every night before bed in anticipation of the next day, I’m trying to decide what my children should wear and how I need to prepare. And at this time of year, we all need to be ready for anything. Cold in the morning, wind and a hot afternoon. Every day is something new!

Well, Jesus said to the Pharisees and Sadducees, “You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.” (Matthew 16:3) In other words, “Pay attention to the signs of the times around us!” Bible prophecy is a fascinating subject. But we must never study prophecy in a merely academic way. Instead, when we read about these events, it should always give us a sense of compassion and urgency because we’re reading about a real judgment that will come upon the world.

In fact, Paul wrote to the believers in Thessalonica, “Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night… But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.” (1 Thessalonians 5:1– 2, 4–6)

With every changing season we come closer the Lord’s soon return. And it should cause us to want to reach out to friends, family, and loved ones who don’t know the Lord. We should be inviting people to church and sharing the Gospel every day. It should also affect our behaviorit should cause us to live more godly lives as we eagerly anticipate the return of our Savior. So don’t sleep-walk through this life. Pay attention to the atmosphere around you and make the most of every moment for Jesus! Love you all, Pastor Tanner Wilson
