The Littlefield High School Graduates received Scholarship awards at the Littlefield Wildcat Gym on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
The welcome was presented by Belen Alvarado. Mr. Alvarado expressed appreciation to all the donors for making the scholarships possible and investing in their futures as well as the community support for the schools.
Julie Bounds then offered the Invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Yaretzi Pompa Gallegos.
Amber Hays, and Brent Green then took the stage on behalf of Littlefield High School to introduce the scholarship donors and recipients.
The Littlefield EMS represented by Albert Rangel presented scholarships in the amount of $500.00 to Kynzie Jordan, X’Zander McDowell, and Braedy Saenz.
Austin’s Army Memorial Scholarship was presented to Chloe Sawyer by the School in the amount of $500.00.
Jennifer Crouch presented the Beverly Trimmer Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500.00 to Sam Hill.
Littlefield High School presented a two-year scholarship from Bailey County Electric Co-op in the amount of $1,000.00 to Kamryn Yvonne Meiwes.
Littlefield High School presented two Calib Villarreal Memorial Scholarships in the amount of $350.00 to Jeremiah Trevino and Gabriel Montalvo.
Graham Henley presented the Capital Farm Credit scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 to Caytlin Black.
The Communities Foundation of Texas Jack Ford Shelby Scholarship in the amount of $5,000.00 was presented to Kamryn Yvonne Meiwes.
The Communities Foundation of Texas Wildcat Athletic Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 was presented to Kennadi Grace Hanlin.
The Dunbar LHS Ex-Student Association represented by Kia Colbert Bolding presented a scholarship in the amount of $500.00 to Ethyn Hopper.
Eric Turpen and Brette Southard presented the Early Risers Lions Club scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00 to Lions Club Queen-Lauren Turpen and Lions Club Sweetheart-Kennan Hanlin.
Dezi Vargas and Elvira Vargas representing the First Federal Bank of Littlefield presented the first Elvira Vargas Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 ($500.00 per semester) to Caytlin Black.
The Food King & Lowe’s Ace Hardware Scholarships in the amounts of $1,000.00 each were presented to Jasmine Acosta, Xavier Champion, Brendon Bowman, and Omar Martinez.
Hillcrest Funeral Home presented three scholarships in the amount of $250.00 to Brittany Abeyta, Kennadi Hanlin, and Xavier Champion.
The Jerry Blakely Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $ 1,000.00 was presented to Kennadi Hanlin.
The Jimmy Thomas Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500.00 was presented to Noah Lopez.
Graham Henley, Lamb County Farm Bureau President, presented the Lilburn Bales Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.00 to Caitlyn Black.
The Littlefield Athletic Booster Club ( Jerry Blakely Student Athlete Scholarships) presented scholarship awards during the Sports Banquet earlier in the year in the amount of $500.00 each to Amiah Elizondo, Kennadi Hanlin, Lindsay Coffman, Kaylee Soria, Sam Hill, Gabriel Montalvo, Isaiah Rodriguez, Braedy Saenz, and Sam Hill.
Littlefield Arts and Heritage presented a scholarship in the amount of $500.00 to Julie-Ann Bownds.
The Littlefield Class of 1964 Memorial scholarship in the amount of $500.00 was presented to Ethyn Hopper.
Veronica Savala of the Littlefield Classroom Teachers Association presented a scholarship in the amount of $500.00 to Reese Miller.
The Littlefield Elementary presented a scholarship in the amount of $500.00 to a graduate who attended Elementary all 3 years, Reece Miller.
Jennifer Ray presented the Littlefield Ex-Students Association Scholarship in the amount of $500.00 to Kennadi Hanlin.
Pam Trotter and Brette Southard of the Littlefield ISD Credit Union presented a scholarship in the amount of $ 700.00 to Taryn Golden.
The Littlefield Masonic Lodge 1161 represented by Gary Birkelbach and Eric Turpen presented scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00 to Lauren Turpen and Sam Hill.
The Littlefield High School Art Club presented six scholarships in the amount of $100.00 to Belen Alvarado, Brianna Caudillo, Kaylee Soria, Sam Hill, Cassie Caudillo, and Jocelyn Silveira.
Danny Marquez of the Littlefield Bank Boosters presented scholarships in the amount of $500.00 to Caitlyn Black, Belen Alvarado, Diego Gonzales, Lauren Turpen, and Avianna Mendoza. A gift card was presented to Sarah Bellar.
Veronica Savala presented Littlefield High School Spanish Club scholarships to Kaylee Soria and Gabriel Montalvo($400.00), Kenzie Flores and Cassie Caudillo, and Sam Hill ($300.00), and Chloe Sawyer, and Yaretzi Pompa Gallegos ($200.00).
The Littlefield High School T.A.F.E. Club presented a scholarship in the amount of $200.00 to Cassie Caudillo.
Jeremiah and Nichole Frausto presented the Malachi Frausto Memorial Scholarships in the amount of $500.00 to Akia Galan and Chloe Sawyer.
The Panhandle-Plains Higher Education Foundation(PPHEF) awarded a scholarship in the amount of $3,500.00 to Julie Ann Bownds.
The Patsy Lively Brittain Scholarship In the amount of $8,000.00 was presented by Brent Green to Kennadi Hanlin.
Lori Zinn presented the Richard Thompson Memorial scholarship in the amount of $500.00 to Cassie Caudillo.
Dezi Vargas, Lori Zinn, and Kay Franklin-Powell of the Littlefield Rotary Club presented scholarships in the amount of $8,000.00 to Xavier Champion, Amiah Elizondo, Taryn Golden Kennadi Hanlin, Kamryn Meiwes, and Gabriel Montalvo.
The Speck and Steven Paul Franklin Memorial was presented by Coach Green and Kay Franklin.
Coach Green began the presentation with these statements; “The Steven Paul Franklin Scholarship was established in 2007 by Speck and Kay Franklin in honor of his son who had leukemia and passed away at the age of 23. With Speck’s unexpected passing in 2009, the scholarship became the Speck and Steven Paul Franklin scholarship. It is awarded to a student or students who exhibit scholastic achievement, leadership, character, and participation in athletics or band. Speck was a true Wildcat fan. He followed the Wildcats and Lady Cats Many, many miles and believed in “Wildcat Magic”. It is my privilege to continue this scholarship in his honor. This year there are three recipients of this scholarship. The 2024 Steven Paul and Speck Franklin Scholarship in the amount of $2,000.00 each go to Caytlin Black, Samuel Hill, and Kynzie Jordan.
Heather Blount presented the South Plains GenTX scholarship in the amount of $ 1,000.00 to Gabriel Montalvo.
Lupe Marquez presented the Texas Electric Cooperative Loss Control Scholarship in the amount of $1,750.00 to Caytlin Black.
Dan Wheeler presented the Vexus Fiber scholarship in the amount of $2,500.00 to Caytlin Black.
Wellington State Bank presented a scholarship in the amount of $2,000.00 to Caytlin Black.
The Woodmen of the World/Ed McCanlies scholarship in the amount of $600.00 was presented to Julie-Ann Bownds.
Donna Neinast of the XI Nu Nu chapter of Beta Sigma Phi presented a scholarship in the amount of $300.00 to Brady Saenz.
The MTC Bionic Youth Leader Outstanding Boy & Girl scholarships in the amount of $2,000.00 were awarded to Gabriel Montalvo and Kennadi Hanlin.
Other Scholarships Awarded included: the Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas awarded $1,000.00 to Brandon Bowman.
Arclabs Welding School awarded three scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00 to Kamryn Meiwes, Jaiden Rodriguez, and Lauren Turpen Lubbock Christian University awarded tiered scholarships to Lindsay Coffman in the amounts of Be Blue Tier -$4,000.00; Pillar Award-$3,000.00; Texas Tuition Equalization Grant Initial$3,872.00; and West Texas Promise-$ 7,000.00.
Dr. Stan DeMerritt, Vice President for Student Services at South Plains College presented the South Plains College Founders Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 to Diego Gonzales; the John L & Vergie Belle Smallwood Scholarship in the amount of $4,000.00 was presented to Brady Jones; and the South Plains Founders scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 was awarded to Ethyn Hopper.
The South Plains College Valedictorian Scholarship in the amount of $5,000.00 was awarded to Kamryn Meiwes, and the Salutatorian Scholarship in the amount of $ 5,000.00 was awarded to Samuel Colt Hill.
West Texas A&M University awarded an Academic Merit Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.00 to Caytlin Black.
The total amount of all Scholarships was $156,072.00. Coach Green stated,”It is incredible how this community, area businesses and other donors come together to support our students. We applaud you and thank you for supporting our students and our school district each and every year.
Caitlyn Black then gave the Benediction to conclude the event.
