Friday, February 16th 30 High School Band students and four Jr. High Band students competed in UIL Solo and Ensemble contest.
This contest was held on the campus of Abernathy High School. Littlefield High School had 10 students performing solos, medaling, and some qualifying for state are:
Silver Medalist: Rhealee Golden.
Gold Medalist: Brittany Abeyta, and Ammarie Galan.
Gold Medalist Qualifying for State: Zamya Darnell- Flute; Avianna Mendoza- French Horn, Matthewe Rios- Baritone, Devyn Crouch- Marimba, Jimmy Ramos-Marimba, and Jordan Randle-Marimba.
We took several ensembles to this contest, all of the ensembles but one, earned a gold medal and qualified for state. Gold Medalist and Qualifiers are:
Flute Trio: Caytlin Black, Zamya Darnell, and Arian MacDonald.
Clarinet Trio: Brianna Aleman, Sophie Garcia, and Lauren Turpen.
Clarinet Choir: Brittany Abeyta, Brianna Aleman, Curtis Gallegos, Sophie Garcia, and Lauren Turpen.
Trombone Trio: Caleb Caudillo, Diego Gonzales, and A. J. Lewis.
Baritone Trio: Devin Beversdorf, Adam MacDonald, and Matthew Rios.
Brass Sextet: Avaley Campbell, Caleb Caudillo, Ammarie Galan, Audrey McKinnon, Adrianna Caudillo, Aryanna Ramirez, and Emma Romero.
Brass Choir: Avaley Campbell, Caleb Caudillo, Cesar Garcia, A. J. Lewis, Audrey McKinnon, Avianna Mendoza, Aryanna Ramirez, Jonah Ramirez, Emma Romero, and Jaelyn Tijerno.
Percussion Ensemble: Noah Castenada, Devyn Crouch, and Micah Keeney, Jimmy Ramos, and Jordan Randle.
These students worked with all three band directors weekly to earn this award and a trip to Austin for the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest May 25, 2023.
We (all directors) couldn’t be more proud of this outstanding achievement.
We are taking 27 high students, and four eighth grade students. They will perform six solos and 8 ensembles.
