Lamb County’s gins have reached 194,051 bales

Mostl of Lamb County’s gins have completed their ginning seasons, with the exception of the Olton Ag Producers Cooperative Gin, which still has many modules on the yard, and some producers still stripping from the fields.

The combined bale count total as of a survey done Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, was 194,051 bales.

The Texas Producers Cooperative Gins at Amherst and Sudan together, turned out a total of 44,032 bales of the 2020 cotton crop. Their last bale was complete at 7:15 Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020.

The Spade Coop Gin was finished with its ginning season on Thursday, Dec. 3, when it ginned its 113,430th bale for the year 2020.

The Springlake-Earth Cotton Growers Gin in Springlake ginned 18,457 bales, and completed its ginning season on Friday, Dec. 4.

The Olton Ag Producers Coop Gin had ginned 113,430 bales, as of Monday morning, Dec. 7, and still had many modules on the yard to be ginned, along with some cotton that is still to be stripped from the fields.

For last year’s 2019 harvest, Lamb County gins ginned a total of 173,700 bales, according to the records of Plains Cotton Growers, Inc.

Last year, Lamb County cotton producers were ranked in seventh place in the top 10 cotton-producing counties for the Texas High Plains in 2019, according to a report from Plains Cotton Growers, Inc.
