Lamb County Electric Cooperative, Inc. has announced that it has canceled its Annual Membership Meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, in Littlefield.

This would have been the Cooperative’s 82nd Annual Membership meeting. “This event is, and has always been, a very important function of the Cooperative,” said Boyd McCamish, General Manager/CEO. “We put a lot of effort and planning into it, and we look forward to it every year. But, as the nationwide pandemic of the Covid-19 virus hit the United States, and spread exponentially, it became evident to the LCEC Board of Directors, that the meeting should be canceled.”

The attendance normally exceeds 700 people. Most of the attendees are in the high-risk age group. “We just do not feel it would be using common sense and good judgment to bring that many people together. A lot of research and consideration was put into this decision,” McCamish continued.

“It was not a decision that was taken lightly, and it was a tough one to make,” McCamish explained. “The LCEC annual meeting is held once a year. It shows our membership appreciation and what a vital part of the Cooperative they are. Many electric cooperatives across the state have made this decision as well.”

He assured the members, “We would like our membership and the communities we serve to rest assured that this decision will not have a negative effect on Lamb County Electric Cooperative. All legal guidelines have been taken into consideration and followed. We will continue to make our membership a top priority and operate in such a manner as allowed by these guidelines, set forth regarding this pandemic tragedy.

“Stay healthy and safe and make plans to attend the 2021 Annual Membership Meeting on Sept. 21, 2021,” General Manager McCamish concluded.
