Hospital Managers hold meeting Tuesday

The Board of Managers of the Lamb County Hospital, conducted a regular business meeting at noon, Tuesday, Aug. 17, in the Education Room of Lamb Healthcare Center.

Board President, Tony Barton called the meeting to order at 12:02 p.m.

There was no one who wanted to discuss any of the agenda items during the Open Forum, or Public Comments part of the agenda.

Minutes of the July 20 business meeting were approved as presented.

Cindy Klein, Chief Executive Officer of Lamb Healthcare Center, reviewed the financial reports, ending July 31, 2021, pointing out the items that were over and under budget.

The balance sheet reports that the totals for Accounts Receivable were at $7,512,774, and $4,931 in investments, which brought the total cash flow to $7,517,705, for July, 2021.

The total revenue was under budget at ($9,117,012); and total operating expense was over budget at ($422,252). The totals for expenses was over budget at ($452,452).

The net income for the year to date is $911,219.

The net income for the month with tax support was $731,232, while the net income for the month without tax support was $637,213.

A review of the LHC Family Medicine Clinic’s profit and loss statement, as of July 31, 2021, was next on the Executive Officer’s report.

The revenue before contractuals for the month was $156,987, and with total expenses in the amount of $172,220, the net of revenue and expense was ($15,233). Contractuals are not included in revenue.

The LHC Family Clinic had 1,376 office visits, when 3,593 total procedures were done.

Revenue, with lab, amounted to $249,026.18, while revenue with write offs, came to $214,872.89; and the total receipts amounted to $102,598.77.

The Olton Rural Health Clinic’s Profit and Loss Statement as of July 31, 2021, reports: Revenue before contractuals for the month, standing at $15,074. Contractuals are not included in revenue.

With total expenses at $18,844, the net of revenue and expense was a loss of ($3,770).

The Olton Rural Health Clinic had 151 office visits, when 265 total procedures were done.

Revenue, with lab, amounted to $20,417.06; while revenue with write offs amounted to $17,722.57, and receipts came to $9,628.62.

Lamb Healthcare Center’s cash flow and investment schedule for the month ending July 31, 2021, reports the beginning County Bank Balance in the amount of $7,193,104.

Deposits of $1,841,768.57, and total disbursements in the amount of ($1,517,166.62), the ending county bank balance was $7,517,705.95.

To end the financial report, Klein reviewed the graphics.

MEDICAL STAFF REPORT

Dr. Cindy George suggested that the managers approve the Initial Appointments of Mary Elardt, MD for Concord; and Rashmi Hande, MD, for Direct Radiology. The board approved those appointments unanimously.

The reapppointment was also approved for Matthew Foster, MD, for Concord.

Dr. George reported that the clinic has been very busy with patients. She reported there currently are no beds available, and urged the public to drive carefully and not get hurt accidentally, wear your masks, get vaccinations, and make good sense about yourself, to avoid having to use the hospital.

CEO Klein reported that the clinic and emergency room are having to direct people from here to somewhere else, because of a lack of nurses here to take care of the patients.

A report revealed that some nurses are having to work long hours, because of the shortage of nurses available.

CEO Klein explained, “We need to give better benefits to our workers,” which started discussions among the board of managers, on the possibilities on what to do to make it a reality.

Ċommittee Reports on infection control, safety, dietary, environmental services, and more, were reviewed by Stacy Styron, Director of Nursing.

Absent board members excused

The board of managers voted to excuse the absence of the board members: Carla Synatschk and Cindy Muller.

The meeting closed with a few subjects CEO Klein brought out in her Adminstrator’s Report.

She explained that she has been looking at a way to keep nurses on the staff. (which was already discussed).

For the hospital’s construction projects, she explained that the interior designer has finished with drawings, before the hospital board applies for bids to be brought to them for consideration.
