Olton ISD is welcoming Courtney Garrett to H.P. Webb Elementary this year, where she will serve as the school’s new fifth grade math teacher.
Garrett said she grew up in small towns before spending most of her college years at Texas A&M University, adding that she has always valued the close relationships and strong support systems that come with smaller communities.
“I absolutely love the atmosphere of small towns. The community and relationships that can be built provide a strong system of support,” said Garrett.
This year will mark Garrett’s 27th year in education. Throughout Garrett’s career, she has taught or coached students in every grade from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, but said her passion lies working with upper elementary students in math.
As she begins her first year at H.P. Webb Elementary, Garrett said she is looking forward to helping students grow academically, socially and emotionally throughout the school year.
Outside of the classroom, Garrett said she enjoys spending time with her family, serving at her church and working in her yard. She has been married to her husband, Matt, for 29 years, and has two children.
Olton ISD officials welcomed Garrett to the district in a recent Facebook post, stating that they are excited to have her join the Mustang family for the upcoming school year.
