County’s voters approve May 7th elections

Lamb County voters approved all three of the elections that were on their ballots Saturday, May 7, 2022.

City of Littlefield District 1

The unofficial tabulation of the May 7, 2022 City of Littlefield election, between Incumbent Eric Saenz and former council member Ben Warren, shows Saenz will be keeping his chair on the City Council. Saenz received a total of 39 votes for 63% of the 61 total votes cast in that election.

His opponent, Ben Warren received 22 votes, for a 36.1% of the total.

Littlefield ISD Bond Election

The Unofficial Tabulation for the May 7, 2022 Littlefield ISD Bond Election, reported that 386 (63.%) of the Littlefield voters were in favor of the bond; while 220 voters (36.3%) voted against it.

Constitutional Amendments

According to the Unoffical Results of the Statewide Constitutional Amendment Election, there were 478 total Lamb County voters that voted “for” Proposition 1, compared to the 69 who voted “against” it.

On Proposition 2, the Unofficial “for” count for Lamb County’s 453 votes, are compared to the 97 “against” votes.

State-wide Results

State-wide, there were 1,121,860 voters who favored Proposition 1 for (86.91%), and 169,011 (13.09%) who were against the total of 1,290,871 votes cast.

On Proposition 2, there were 1,106.460 total state votes (84.82%) in favor of Proposition 2. There were 197,960 total votes against Proposition 2, (15.18%) out of the 1,304.420 total votes.

Constitutional Amendments Proposition Number 1 (SJR 2) “The constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature to provide for the reduction of the amount of a limitation on the total amount of ad valorem taxes that may be imposed for general elementary and secondary public school purposes on the residence homestead of a person who is elderly or disabled to reflect any statutory reduction from the preceding tax year in the maximum compressed rate of the maintenance and operations taxes imposed for those purposes on the homestead.” * * *

Proposition Number 2 (SJR 2) “The constitutional amendment increasing the amount of the residence homestead exemption from ad valorem taxation for public school purposes from $25,000 to $40,000.”
