The Meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m. by Commissioner Kent Lewis and the Invocation was given by Commissioner Lee Logan. The Commissioners led the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge of Allegiance before the meeting got underway.

Commissioner Lewis opened the meeting for Public Comment, but there was nobody present, so the Public Comment session of the meeting was closed.

The Consent Agengda Items included approving the minutes from the previous two meetings, which there were no changes to; there were no budget, salary amendments and there were no line-item transfers to be considered. The County Auditor presented bills in the amount of $694,989.28 and payroll was presented for Lamb County ending on May 6, 2022, in the amount of $156,977.57 and for LHC ending on May 7, 2022, in the amount of $181,208.12.

LHC CEO Cindy Klein gave a report for the hospital.

County Auditor Gina Jones discussed a list of property from Lamb County surplus and sell at a public auction.

“We have split everything into two lists, one being things that were stored are probably not going to sell because of animals or that we feel would cost more to try to sell it, rather than just throw it away. There is a week blocked off in the middle of June for our auction at the Ag Center,” Jones said.

The motion was made by Commissioner Cory DeBerry and seconded by Commissioner Logan to approve the lists presented by Jones. The motion carried.

The next item was presented by Commissioner DeBerry, in regards to the purchase and finance of a newer Motorgrader for Precinct 1.

“I’ve got a 2009 and a 2010 Motorgrader; one has a transmission out and the other one has been repaired multiple, multiple times,” he explained. “I’m looking at trading two for one and it would be five payments of $50,000 plus interest. Payment would not take place until 2024 fiscal year and delivery would take place in fiscal year 2023. At the end of the fifth year, we will have a $1 buy off, so the county will own the Motorgrader after that.”

Jones added, “We don’t need to vote on the financing right now, because the interest rates are changing so much. I also have some general concerns about purchasing this right now.”

The motion was made by Commissioner DeBerry and seconded by Commissioner Short to approve the purchase of the Motorgrader for Precinct 1. The motion carried.

The Commissioners next were presented with the Lamb County Library’s participation in the West Texas Digital Consortium, which will allow them to check out digital and audiobooks. The motion was made by Commissioner Logan and seconded by Commissioner Short to approve the Lamb County Library’s participation in the West Texas Digital Consortium. The motion carried.
