Blake Moore new General Manager at LCEC

Welch native, Blake Moore, was recently named the new General Manager of Lamb County Electric Cooperative, taking over for Boyd McCamish, who retired on July 30th .

Moore comes to LCEC from his previous Co-op, Lyntegar Electric cooperative, Inc. in Tahoka, TX. “I was raised on Co-op lines,” Moore said. “I didn’t even know positions like these existed when I was in school. I thought all the Co-op was, was linemen that took care of us when our power went off.”

He talked about what made him want to come to LCEC, saying, “LCEC has a great youth program. I got to judge their youth tour contest several times throughout the year, that’s a lot of the reason that I came to the office.”

He added, “The Co-op’s in this area are all involved in things together and knowing their great reputation and the wonderful employees that they have; the managers job came open and I had the opportunity to apply and it sure seemed like a place I would love to go and work.”

Moore talked about what he is looking forward to about joining the LCEC family, saying, “There is an old saying in the Co-op world, ‘if you’ve seen one Co-op, you’ve seen one Co-op.’ We all do the same thing, but we all do it differently. I’m really looking forward to how LCEC works and seeing the differences between it and my former Co-op.”

He added, “This is my first time in the management role, so there is definitely going to be some learning time for me, but there are some great employees here that I know I can rely on and they’ll certainly help me get through anything I need to.”

Moore talked about what he likes to do in his free time, saying, “I have three children, two sons and a daughter, so I have no free time. My hobbies include chasing them around. My boys are actively involved in 4-H; they do food and nutrition events, they do shooting events, we have five Australian Shepards and we’ll raise a litter every now and then, or sometimes they’ll surprise us.”

He added, “My wife, Laura, and I have been married for going on 16 years, and we are really looking forward to becoming part of this community and being involved.”

Moore talked about what he hopes to bring to LCEC, saying, “I told Boyd when I came over for the meet and greet, that I was sure glad I was having to fit a pair of boots and not a pair of loafers. I’ve been one place and I’m going to be here and I’m certainly not looking to change anything right off of the bat, because this place has been around for 83 years and it has obviously done something right to hang around like it has.”

He added, “I’m looking to bring some different ideas and different ways to look at things and intermix those with what works and go from there.”

He concluded, “Co-ops are a great organization to be involved with. It is a very different kind of business structure than what you normally see. I can’t brag on it enough; I’m just grateful there is one here and that I have the opportunity to be working here. My only regret about the Co-op world is that I didn’t start sooner.”
