Area Jr. Livestock Show to begin this Wednesday

The 2021 Area Junior Livestock Show and Sale will begin Wednesday, Jan. 13, when barns at the Lamb County Ag and Community Center will be opened to receive animals from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Bringing their animals to the show will be 4-H and FFA exhibitors from the Littlefield, Amherst and Sudan communities, and they must have them in the barn by 12 noon Thursday, Jan. 14.

Thursday’s schedule, Jan. 14

At 12:30 p.m., Thursday, steers begin weighing in, and heifers begin checking in.

At 1 p.m.. weight cards for swine, lambs and goats will be due at the office.

From 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., swine weigh-in begins for Lamb County 4-H exhibitors, then Littlefield FFA, then Sudan FFA, then Amherst FFA.

At 2 p.m., Ag Mechanics projects will check in.

From 2:30 to 3 p.m., lambs will be weighed in, in the same order as mentioned above.

Starting at 3 p.m., goats will be weighed in.

At 4 p.m., Ag Mechanics projects will begin being judged.

At 5 p.m., in this order, the beef heifers, steers, and Dairy Heifer Shows will begin being shown and judged.

Friday’s Jan. 15, schedule

At 8 a.m., pens must be clean and rubbish removed, before the judging beings at 8 a.m. for the goat show, followed by the lamb show, and followed by the swine show.

Saturday’s, Jan. 16 schedule

An appreciation lunch for buyers and donors, which is to be prepared in containers for distribution by the meal committee, will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., when the Premium Auction sale begins, with Guyle Roberson serving as auctioneer.
