2024 Big Bracket Challenge is here

The college basketball conference tournaments are complete and the Selection Committee will be announcing who will make it to the “Big Dance”, that is the 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The field of teams will be selected on Sunday, March 17th, with the first four games to be played on March 19th and 20th with the first round of the tournament beginning on the 21st.

The sixth annual Lamb County Leader-News Big Bracket Challenge bracket will be published in the March 20th edition of the Leader-News.

Brackets must be competed and returned to us by 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 21st or postmarked before 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 21st if you are mailing your bracket in to us. You must pick the first four games correctly in order to receive credit for those game.

The “first four” games will be played March 19th and 20th at UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio, while the first and second round games will be played March 21st and 23rd at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C., CHI Health Center in Omaha, Neb., PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, and Delta Center in Salt Lake City. Also, on the 22nd and 24th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena in Spokane, Wash. , and FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn.

The Sweet 16 and Elite Eight dates and venues are March 28th and 30th for the West and East Regionals at the Crypto. com Arena in Los Angeles, and TD Garden in Boston. Also, on March 29th and 31st for the Midwest and South Regionals at the Little Cesars Arena in Detroit, and American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The Final Four and National Championship will be played on April 6th and 8th at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

First round games will be worth one point; second round games will be worth two points, Sweet 16 games will be worth four points, Elite 8 games will be worth eight points, Final Four games will be worth 16 points and the championship game will be worth 32 points.

In case of a tie, the tie-breaker will be the combined score of the championship game.

Results will be published in the Wednesday edition of the Leader-News on April 10th.
