$1.4 million Research Dollars provided to Texas

The Cotton Incorporated Texas State Support Committee gathered in Austin, Texas July 20, 2023, to allocate just over $1.4 million in 2024 research dollars provided to Texas through the CI State Support Program.

Cotton researchers based in the Texas High Plains region were approved for 2024 funding totaling $340,750 allocated to projects focused on issues that directly impact cotton growers in the High Plains of Texas.

Regionally, 20 High Plains research projects, submitted by representatives from Texas A& M AgriLife Extension, Texas A&M AgriLIfe Research, Texas Tech University and West Texas A&M University, were awarded funds during the meeting. A total of $637,500 was awarded to research projects addressing statewide topics.

The CI State Support is a part of the CI research program that returns research funds to cotton producing states to support producer- driven research into topics important to producers such as cotton breeding, pest and crop management, soil health, and marketing.

Members of the Texas State Support Committee are cotton producers selected by regional cotton producer organizations to represent cotton growers from each of the State’s nine cotton producing regions.
