Marsha Troche, manager of Littlefield’s “Library of Legacies Assisted Living Facility,” is proud to be able to announce that they have had no COVID-19 cases with residents or employees, the entire year of 2020, since the virus began in March of 2020.

Marsha wrote out a statement on their safety guidelines and policies, to provide information for readers of the Lamb County Leader-News.

In her statement, Marsha wrote: “The Library of Legacies in Littlefield, has had multiple safety guidelines that have been in place to protect our residents and staff and their families as well.

“We have invested heavily in sanitation foggers (they are utilized during and after every shift on all contact surfaces), employee testing, Personal Protection Equipment and antibacterial products to keep our building as safe as possible.

“Our employees and many others have sacrificed so much to help keep our residents safe, and we are so proud of all their work and dedication that has allowed us to be COVID-19 free since this all began back in March.

“Also, we have had to implement a quarantine rule anytime a resident leaves the building, as we are learning that residents are being exposed to the virus during hospital visits/stays, Doctor’s appointments, and family visits.

“While we must do that, we are allowing our residents to eat together, 6 feet apart, so they can see other people. We are also safely starting back some activities, like Bingo and birthday parties as well.

“Quarantine is not a punishment, but rather a safety procedure put into place to stop the spread, if someone has been out of the building or potentially exposed to the virus.

“Library of Legacies is also thrilled to have received the first dose of the Coronavirus vaccine, this past week. CVS Pharmacy has been amazing to work with, and delivered the vaccines efficiently..lol. Littlefield will receive the second dose on Jan. 19th. This vaccine brings hope to the residents and staff, although this cannot be an excuse to let our guard down. We will remain vigilant with all safety precautions,” Troche concluded.

For the Leader-News, I was happy to bring this report to the residents of Littlefield, and as from my lengthy research, they are the only Lamb County aging facility that has achieved this incredible title. We extend our congratulations to Library of Legacies in Littlefield, and to Manager Marsha Troche, and all her Staff for doing an outstanding job keeping our loved ones safe during this trying time of pandemic. I pray 2021 will bring an end to this pandemic for us all.
