EXCELLENCE AWARDS – There were 24 4-H members throughout Lamb County who qualified for the Excellence Award. They are shown with a variety of items they received. They had to submit a completed recordbook and place first at a District 4-H contest or regional or state stock show.

9/11: A Twenty-Year Remembrance

September 11, 2021 This week Texans, Americans and all those who love freedom throughout the world will mark the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Littlefield still spraying to control mosquitoes

The City of Littlefield is continuing to monitor mosquitoes, and is continuing its schedule for spraying. Spraying of the entire city (depending on how the wind is blowing) is still being done three nights a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, to try to control mosquitoes.

NEW SCHOLARSHIP – During the recent South Plains College Law Enforcement Academy graduation, the SPC Foundation announced the establishment of the newly endowed Sgt. Joshua Bartlett Memorial Scholarship to assist students in the Law Enforcement program.

Get ready to Celebrate in Amherst!

The Annual Amherst Days Celebration is scheduled for all day Saturday, July 31, 2021, in the City of Amherst’s City Park. The celebration parade will begin lining up at 9 a.m. on the street south of the Amherst City Hall near the Gin.

Castro County Fair seeks to fill booths

Anyone interested in a booth at the Castro County Fair during Harvest Days Saturday, Aug. 28th, 2021 in Dimmitt, please contact Cathy Nelson at 806-869-7550. Booths are $30 for 10x12 and $40 for double size. The fair will be held on the courthouse square, at the corner of Hwy 385 & 86.
