Wolverines hold off Kress, 52-37

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ used a solid fourth quarter to pull away from the Kress Kangaroos last Tuesday to take the district match-up, 52-37.

With the win, the Wolverines improve to 13-3 overall, 10-0 in district play.

The Wolverines jumped out to a, 20-13, lead in the first quarter, behind nine points from junior, Trace Goodman. They added 12 points in the second quarter to take a, 32-23, lead into the locker room at halftime.

In the third quarter, Kress held the Wolverines to just five points, slicing the lead to just two points, 37-35, but in the fourth quarter, Springlake-Earth outscored the Kangaroos, 15-2, to take the contest, 52-37.

Dereck Rosalez led the team in scoring with 15 points, and he was joined in double-figures scoring by juniors, Evan DeLeon and Kaden Castillo, who each netted 11 points.

Goodman tallied nine points, while Timothy Tanaro chipped in four points and Alex Alvarez fmished with two points in the contest.
