Wolverines fall short against Brownfield

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ varsity basketball team played a non-district game against Brownfield last Tuesday falling to the Cubs on the road, 55-53.

With the loss, the Wolverines fall to 14-4 overall, 11-0 in district play.

The Cubs jumped out to a, 21-17, lead in the first quarter, and outscored the Wolverines, 10-6, in the second quarter to take a, 31-23, lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Wolverines responded in the second half, as both teams netted 12 points in the third quarter, making thes score, 43-35, heading into the final quarter of play. In the fourth quarter, SpringlakeEarth poured in 17 points, coming up just short of a comeback, 55-53.

Kaden Castillo led the team in scoring with 24 points, while Evan DeLeon joined him in double-figures scoring with 12 points. Dereck Rosalez tallie six points, while Trace Goodman finished with five points and Timothy Tanaro finished with four points. Alex Alvarez finished with two points in the contest.
