The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity basketball team took down the Slaton Tigers on Tuesday, 56-40, on the road.
With the win, the Wildcats improve to 6-4 overall on the season.
The Wildcats jumped out to a, 16-7, lead in the first quarter, but the Tigers outscored them, 15-11, in the second frame, trimming the Littlefield lead to, 27-15, heading into the locker room at halftime.
The Tigers outscored Littlefield, 14-13, coming out of the gates in the second half, but the Wildcats poured in 16 points in the fourth quarter to take down the Tigers, 56-40.
Senior, Tyree Jones, led the team in scoring with 19 points and was joined in double-figures scoring by senior, Chris Brown, who finished with 16 points.
Senior guard, Jeremiah Salazar, tallied eight points, while senior, Caden Longoria, netted six points and senior, Joseph Salinas, chipped in four points. Junior, Ethan Garcia, contributed two points, while junior, Jordan Trevino, finished with one point in the contest.
The Wildcats hosted Lamesa on Friday to open district play. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday with a non-district road game against Farwell.
Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
