The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team won an overtime thriller at Floydada on Friday, 60- 56, to remain in first place in District 4-2A.
With the win, the Nettes improve to 17- 8 overall, 8- 1 in district play.
Sudan jumped out to a, 14-9, lead in the first quarter and tacked on 13 points in the second frame to take a, 27-19, lead into the locker room at halftime.
However, in the third quarter, Floydada came roaring back, outscoring the Nettes, 17- 7, to take a two- point lead, 36- 34, into the final quarter of play. Sudan would outscore the Lady Winds, 13- 11, in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
In the extra period, Sudan outscored Floydada, 13- 9, to take the contest, 60- 56.
Gracyn Shultz tallied 24 point to lead the Nettes in scoring. She also had five steals and four rebounds. Stevi Lockhart joined her in double- figures scoring with 22 points, to go along with seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block.
Blessy Montes tallied three points and five rebounds, while Kambry Tolbert contributed three points, two rebounds, one assists and one steal, and Braelyn Pointer chipped in three points, five rebounds and two steals. Elaine Martinez tallied three points, six rebounds, one assist and one block, while Melo Rodriguez added two points, two rebounds and one steal, and Edette Herrera finished with one assist.
The Nettes hosted Ralls on Tuesday for their second meeting with the Lady Rabbits. Results were not available at press time. They will continue district play on Friday with a road game against Olton.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
