Nettes throttle Lady Horns, 79-5

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team cruised to victory on Tuesday night in their district-opener, as the dismantled the Lockney Lady Horns, 79-5.

With the win, the Nettes improve to 12-4 overall, 1-0 in district play.

The Nettes opened the game strong, outscoring the Lady Horns, 52-0, in the first half. Lockney tallied five points in the third quarter, but trailied the Nettes, 68-5, going into the final quarter of play.

In the fourth quarter, Sudan slammed the door, outscoring Lockney, 11-0, to take the contest, 795.

Melo Rodriguez led the Nettes in scoring with 22 points, 13 steals, eight rebounds and three assists, while Blessy Montes tallied 15 points, five steals, two asssits and one rebound, and Haylee Toscano contributed 14 points, five steals, three assists and two rebounds.

Edette Herrera tallied eight points, five assists, five steals and two rebounds, while Lexi Jennings contributed eight points, three rebounds and two steals. Addison Cornelius tallied six points, nine rebounds and one steal, while Emry Humphreys added four points, four rebounds and two steals and Kaileigh Greenwalt finished with five steals, two rebounds and one assist.

The Nettes traveled to Floydada on Friday to take on the Lady Win, as district play continues. Results were not available at press time. They will continue district play on Tuesday with a home game against Ralls.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
