NETTES OPEN SEASON WITH WIN OVER SMYER

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team wasted no time getting their season off and running on Saturday, as they took down the Smyer Lady Cats, 82-25.

With the win, the Nettes improve to 1-0 overall on the season.

The Nettes jumped out to a, 29-5, lead in the first quarter, and extended their lead to, 45-9, going into the locker room at halftime.

Sudan poured in 23 points in the third quarter and 14 points in the final frame to take the contest, 82-25.

Sophomore, Stevi Lockhart, led the team in scoring with 14 points, to go along with six steals, two blocks and one assist, while Addison Boehning tallied 13 points, nine rebounds, four assists and six steals.

Sophomore, Gracyn Shultz, contributed 12 points, two assists, two steals and one rebound, while Landree Gonzales netted 11 points to go along with two rebounds, two assists and one steal and sophomore, Braelyn Pointer, contributed nine points, four rebounds, three steals and one assist.

Senior, Zoey Cantu, tallied six points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals, while Kambry Tolbert chipped in six points, five steals and one rebound and junior, Liz Sital, added five points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Elaine Martinez finished with eight rebounds, three points, three assists and four steals, while Sydney Cornelius finished with three points and two rebounds.

The Nettes were at Hale Center on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Saturday with a road game against Idalou.

Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
