Nettes fall short against Hale Center, 25-24

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity softball team strung together 14 hits, but fell to the Hale Center Lady Owls, 25-24.

With the loss, the Nettes fall to 1-7 overall on the season.

SSudan went scoreless through the first two innings, falling into a, 6-0, hole, but they were able to bring one run across in the top of the third inning to make the score, 6-1.

Hale Center added five runs in the bottom of the third inning to extend their lead to, 11-1, but Sudan’s offense would explode in the top of the fourth inning, as they score 14 runs to take the lead, 15-11.

Hale Center’s offense, though, would catch fire in the bottom half of the fourth, as they added 11 runs to regain the lead, 22-15.

Sudan scratched four runs across in both the fifth and sixth innings, while Hale Center added just one run in the fifth to make the score, 23-23, heading into the final inning of play.

In the seventh, Hale Center would outscore the Nettes, 2-1, to take the contest, 25-24.

The Nettes hosted Sundown on Monday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Saturday with a road game against Floydada.

First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
