Nettes fall short against Borden Count 66-51

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team suffered a loss on Tuesday night at Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock against Borden County, 65-51.

With the loss, the Nettes fall to 2-6 overall on the season.

Borden County jumped out to a, 14-7, lead in the first frame and outscored the Nettes, 16-11, in quarter number two to take a, 30-18, lead into the locker room at halftime.

Out of the break, Sudan poured in 16 points in the third quarter and outscored Borden County, 17-15, in the fourth quarter, but they fell short in their comeback efforts, 65-51.

They were led in scoring by junior, Addison Boehning, who finished with 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals, while sophomore, Gracyn Shultz, posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, to go along with four assists, three steals and three blocks.

Sophomore, Sydney Cornelius, chipped in eight points, five rebounds and two steals, while sophomore, Braelyn Pointer, tallied eight rebounds, four points, two assists, two steals and one block. Sophomore, Kambry Tolbert, contributed two points, four rebounds and one assist, while sophomore, Elaine Martinez, chipped in five rebounds, two points and one assist and senior, Zoey Cantu, finished with four rebounds and two points.

The Nettes traveled to Shallowater on Friday to take on the Fillies. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday, Dec. 8th with a home game against Lockney.

Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
