The Olton Mustangs’ varsity basketball team throttled the Plains Cowboys on Friday, 81-40, to move to 8-1 overall on the season.
The Mustangs got off to a fast start, with six players finding the basket, including six points from Brennon Huguley and five points from Andrew Martinez. They took an early, 21-5, lead into the second quarter. Bryson Ramage added six points in the second frame, along with four points from both Aldo Vasquez and Chris Urbina, helping Olton extend their lead to, 41-19, heading into the locker room at halftime.
Urbina ignited the Mustangs in the third quarter with 11 points, as they tacked on 25 points in the quarter to extend their lead to, 66-31, heading into the final quarter of play. Olton added 15 points in the fourth quarter, as they throttled Plains, 81-40.
Urbina led the team in scoring with 20 points and he was joined in double-figures scoring by Allcorn and Ramage, who each netted 12 points and Vasquez, who finished with 10 points.
Martinez netted nine points, while Huguley and Ty Struve chipped in eight points each and Canchola finished with two points in the contest.
The Mustangs will return to action on Dec. 29th with a road game against Tulia.
