MUSTANGS COMING OFF OF BYE, READY FOR HALE CENTER

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity football team is coming off of their bye week with a 2-1 record overall, as they look forward to their contest at Hale Center this Friday.

Head Coach Ross Lassiter talked about how the bye week was beneficial for them, saying, “The off week came at a good time to help us recover from a few bumps and bruises. The kids worked hard last week.”

He added, “We went back to basics and did a lot of work on tackling and blocking.”

The Coach talked about the matchup this week with the Owls, saying, “Hale Center has a good team. They are explosive on offense and fly to the ball on defense. Defensively, we will need to be good against the run. Jakob Garcia is a very good running back. He is quick and shifty.” He added, “Quarterback Hunter

He added, “Quarterback Hunter Thompson carries the ball a lot also. He has good speed and runs hard. Thompson is a really good quarterback. He throws the ball well and has multiple receivers to throw to. They like to target wide receiver Aurick Rodriguez when throwing vertically. We will need to be good against the run and not give up the big play when they throw.”

He continued, “Defensively, they are not very big but they fly to the football. We will need to establish a run game and take advantage of what they will give us in the passing game. Hale Center is a team that has grown with confidence week to week. We will have to play a full four quarter game. This game could come down to special teams.

Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. this Friday in Hale Center.
