The Olton Mustangs’ varsity basketball team improved to 2-0 overall on Tuesday with a, 59-24, victory over Hale Center.
The Mustangs came out strong in the first quarter, outscoring the Owls, 13-4, with five different players finding the bottom of the net. Olton added 17 points in the second frame, behind six points from Aldo Vasquez, making the score, 30-12, going into the locker room at halftime.
The Mustangs outscored Hale Center, 16-7, in the third quarter and, 13-5, in the final frame to take the 59-24.
Israel Santillan led the team in scoring with 11 points, and was joined in double-figures scoring by Vasquez and Brennon Huguley, who each netted 10 points.
Andrew Martinez and Chris Urbina each netted eight points, while Bryson Ramage tallied seven points and Jack Allcorn added three points. Joe Canchola finished with two points in the contest.
The Mustangs were at New Home on Friday to take on the Leopards and had a road game at San Jacinto Christian on Saturday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday at Springlake-Earth.
Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
