The Amherst Bulldogs’ varsity football team grinded out a, 48-43 victory over the Whitharral Panthers on Friday to improve to 2-0 in district play.
Head Coach Daniel Hinojosa talked about the win, saying, “We just need to continue to get better. We believed we were a playoff team last year and had to battle injuries the whole year. This year we have also battled injuries, but we adapted a lot better than last year.”
He added, “It was a win, and we will take it; especially over a quality team.
This week the Bulldogs host Cotton Center, looking to improve to 3-0 in district play.
“This week we got Cotton Center and we will have to play hard,” the coach explained. “I hope we will be ready. They do some things well. We are gonna have to prepare.”
Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium in Amherst.
