The 13 th ranked Olton Mustangs’ varsity basketball team clinched the District Championship on Tuesday, 55-50, over the Farwell Steers in Olton.
With the win, the Mustangs improve to 22-1 overall, 7-0.
Olton held a one-point lead, 15- 14, at the end of quarter number one, but the Steers outscored the Mustangs, 19-11, in quarter number two, taking a, 33-26, lead into the locker room at halftime.
Olton though, would outscore the Steers, 13-5, in the third quarter and, 16-12, in the final quarter of play, to take the contest, 55-50.
Chris Urbina led the team in scoring with 17 points, and he was joined in double-figures scoring by Israel Santillan, who finsihed with 15 points. Jake Soliz chipped in seven points, while Jack Allcorn tallied six points and Aldo Vasquez contributed four points.
Bryson Ramage, Brennen Huguley and Alex Santillan each added two points in the contest.
The Mustangs closed out the regular season on Friday with a road game against Bovina. Results were not available at press time.
