In Loving Memory Of Patsy LaNell Grimes

It is with great sadness we share the passing of Patsy LaNell Grimes, our loving and precious Mother, Sister, Grand and Great Grandmother and friend to those whose lives she touched. After a lengthy battle with cancer, Patsy went to her heavenly home peacefully in the presence of her children on January 4, 2024.

She was born in 1935 in Dickens, Texas to Alfred and Lois Ann Offield. At the age of five, Patsy moved to Littlefield and attended Littlefield Public Schools. Patsy worked throughout her teen years, first at Reece's Drug Store and later at a local department store as a DE student. It was at Reece's drug store that she met her best friend and lifelong love James Grimes. The couple married on January 23, 1953 and to this union four children were born – Vicki, Sharleta, Travis and Tim.

Patsy will be remembered as a faithful, unwavering believer in the Lord. She was strong in her faith and values and was unafraid to speak her truth, always willing to encourage those she loved to live their best life. Many times she was found with an open Bible on her lap, studying His Word, seeking His wisdom and guidance for her life. Often times she could be seen in deep prayer for her family standing in the gap for them.

Patsy had a gift for creativity expressed in multiple mediums throughout her life. Her home was filled with oil paintings, ceramic art and needlework. Family and friends were often gifted with a painting, a ceramic piece or a quilt created with love. Patsy was also a talented seamstress who could design and sew something as simple as a window curtain to exquisite, beaded wedding gowns for her daughters.

Patsy saw the beauty of God's creation and turned her special love for birds and flowers into amazing flower gardens. She had the intuition of a master gardener and a landscape architect combined. She excelled in designing, planting and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She was a founding member of the Littlefield Garden Club and will be missed by her fellow gardeners.

In the early morning she could be found sitting in the sun room sipping her coffee, watching the birds and planning her next project for the gardens. It was a favorite time for her children and grandchildren to be with her, to listen to the wisdom that only comes from life experience. Through her unique storytelling we were gently taught how to be our best selves, spouses, parents and keepers of the faith.

As she shared her life experiences we learned that when life is hard and seems unfair we are able to stand through it with grace, dignity and unconditional love.

She loved her family fiercely and set the example of what a matriarch should be and those who truly loved her are forever graced by the impact she had on our lives. We are beyond fortunate to have called her Sister, Mother, Grandma and GiGi.

Patsy is preceded in death by her husband James, sons Travis and Timothy, parents Alfred and Lois, brothers Denver, Dudley, Bobby and Curtis.

She is survived by her daughters and husbands, Vicki and Eddie Surrett of Littlefield, Sharleta and Ronnie Ellis of San Angelo. Sisters, Topsy Conner of Springlake and Freddie Duke Webb of Lubbock.
