Lydia “Wella” Soliz, 86, of Olton, TX, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025. Rosary was said Friday afternoon, December 12, 2025, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Olton. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday afternoon, Dec. 13, 2025, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Olton with Father Alex Ambrose officiating. Interment followed at Olton Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Lydia was born Jan. 14, 1939, in Edinburg, TX, to Esequiel and Ignacia (Rodriguez) Vasquez. She married Abelardo Jose “A.J.” Soliz on April 6, 1955. Lydia worked for Olton ISD in the cafeteria for 10 years. She was known by many simply as “Wella,” a name that reflected her loving nature and warmth. Lydia enjoyed crocheting and knitting, cooking meals for her family, and spending time in her garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her five sons; three daughter-in-laws; two daughters and their spouses; a brother; two sisters; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
