Rudy Cantrell, 79, of Earth, passed peacefully at his home Tuesday, April 19, 2022 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born December 31, 1942 in Amherst, Texas to Vernie Earl "Dink" Cantrell and Claudia Mae Crossland Cantrell.

Rudy was the third born of fourteen siblings. He married Lois Martin December 14, 1963 in Dimmitt, Texas. Rudy was a farmer by trade, and even after his retirement he kept a garden in his backyard year after year. He enjoyed being outdoors, even if it was just puttering around in the yard with his canine sidekicks, Gizmo, Little Bit and Chloe. He loved fishing and bowling, but his biggest love in life was always his family.

Rudy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois Cantrell of Earth, Texas; his seven children, Randall Scott Cantrell of Plainview, Gary Don Cantrell and wife, Candy of Amarillo, Louis Cantrell and wife, Carissa of Plainview, Brian Lynn Cantrell and wife, Gena of Dalhart, Krista Lynn Kennedy and husband, Michael of Plainview, Rachel Barnes and husband, Zack of Mount Ayr, Iowa and Rebekah Lois Cruz and husband, Tommy of San Angelo; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his remaining siblings and their spouses, Gene and Paula Cantrell of Amherst, Ruby and Jimmy Fulenwider of Springlake, Renda Bailey of Springlake, Linda and Bill Bishop of Conway, Arkansas and Peggy Alvarado also of Conway, Arkansas; and his many nieces, nephews, extended family members and many others who he loved like family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James, Ronnie and Billy; five sisters, Nancy, Louise, Gloria, Patsy and Pansy; his two grandchildren, Jennifer Cantrell and Krystal Kennedy; and a great granddaughter, Tabitha Cantrell.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Thirsty's Lounge (615 Ash) in Plainview, Texas. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
