Sept. 2, 1946 ~ June 26, 2025

We are sad to announce the passing of Linda Kay (Hodge) Shadden of Littlefield, TX. She left this world at age 78 on June 26, 2025, at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock.

Linda Kay was born Sept. 2, 1946, in Amherst, TX to Thomas "Buster" and Rose (Harlin) Hodge. She grew up in Missouri and Littlefield. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Donna.

She is survived by her brother, Robert Hodge of Littlefield; nieces Amanda Hodge and Shelly Tyler both of Lubbock; four great nieces and nephews: Ryan Hodge of Lubbock, Kaylee Hodge of Charlotte, NC, and Landon and Taryn Tyler of Snyder, TX; and various other cousins.

After graduating Littlefield High School in 1964, she went on to attend Texas Tech University and was a huge supporter of the Goin' Band from Raiderland and Texas Tech Athletics. Upon completing her degree from Texas Tech, she taught school at Corpus Christi, then at several small schools in the area including Lazbuddie, Cotton Center and Olton. She lived in various parts of Texas including Corpus Christi and Abernathy before calling Littlefield home again after her retirement.

She worked for several years at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock. She also started her own business after retirement by designing and selling jalapeno popper racks at various craft shows across Texas. She was instrumental in helping organize her LHS Class of '64 reunions throughout the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Texas Tech Alumni Association or Second Chance Dog Rescue.

Celebration of life will be Monday, July 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Littlefield.

Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, TX.
