Hockley County wreck results in one dead, two injured

On Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, at approximately 4:45 p.m. a one vehicle crash on US 62, six miles north of Ropesville in Hockley County resulted in two people injured and one deceased.

A 2014 Isuzu Ascender was traveling southwest on US 62 in the inside westbound lane. The 2014 Isuzu Ascender swerved right for an unknown reason and traveled across the outside westbound lane into the west ditch. The Isuzu Ascender rotated clockwise, entered a left-side skid and rolled over an unknown number of times. The Isuzu Ascender came to a rest upside down, facing northeast on the east side of the railroad tracks.

The driver of the 2014 Isuzu Ascender, Santiago Miranda, 69, of Brownfield, Texas, was transported to UMC in Lubbock with serious injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.

The passenger of the vehicle, Daniel Alvarado, 66, of Brownfield, Texas, was pronounced deceased on scene by Hockley County Justice of the Peace Wendi McNabb. He was not wearing a seat belt.

A one-year-old male from Lubbock, Texas, was transported to UMC in Lubbock with serious injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.

The wreck was investigated By the Texas Highway Patrol Troopers.
