The Lamb County Leader-New’s annual football contest kicked off this week with the first set of games taking place Friday.
Brenda Harrell and Larry Ashley tied for first place this week with a score of 14-6, forcing us to go to the tie-breaker, which was the combined score of Bushland and West Plains, 88 points. Brenda Harrell took first place this week with a guess of 58 points, edging out Ashley, who guessed 43 points.
Mark Grace took third place with a score of 13-7 this week.
The Wildcats dropped their season opener at Muleshoe, 48-20, while Olton went on the road and took down Sudan, 35-20, and Amherst traveled to Grady and picked up a victory, 52-24. The Springlake-Earth Wolverines held off a late surge from Whitharral, 56-42, while Anton fell on Thursday to Booker, 38- 12, and Monahans dismantled Shallowater, 48-7.
Idalou fell on the road against Sweetwater, 42-20, while Farwell took down New Deal, 40-30, and Snyder shutout Slaton, 42- 0. Roosevelt blasted River Road, 426, while Childress edged out Abernathy, 14-7, and Denver City clipped Borger, 19-14. Brownfield survived against Post, 28-24, and Highland Park took down Tulia, 33-21.
Dalhart went on the road and took down Perryton, 33-30, while Dimmitt won at home against Memphis, 36-14, and Andrews took down Randall, 32-21. Lubbock- Cooper shutout Dumas, 420, while Estacado won a shootout over Greewood, 65- 51, and Plainview took down Levelland, 45-18.
The rest of the field’s individual scores are as follows: Those who finished 12-8 this week were, Johnny Rosemond, Ivan Estrada, Richard Orozco, David Neinast, Donna Neinast and JC Orozco, while 11-9 finishers included Juan Garza, Jimmy Garcia, Lonnie Neinast, Ronnie Martin, Jonathan Magallanes and Jan Smith.
10-10 finishers this week were, Sandra Williams, Thomas Blackstone, Tommy Cloninger, Oscar Sanchez, Charlie Smith and Bill Albus, while Terrill Moorhead, Ed Dabrowski, Sam Castillo and Alma Castillo each finished 9-11.
JR Harrell, Stevy Smith, Dewayne Hayes, Maria Pinon and Robin Elliott each finished 8-12, while Martin Duran finished 7-13 and Teresa Dabrowski finished 515 this week.
