Conjunto Amanecer set to perform at Flatland Music Festival

Conjunto Amanecer is a northern group from Ojinaga, Chihuahua, formed in 1985. They have more than thirty years of experience and more than twenty longplaying albums.

Conjunto Amanecer begins its history in 1985 when Eduviges “Vico” Madrid worked as a mathematics teacher, so he decided to buy an accordion to make his classes more dynamic.

By chance, someone informed him that there was a Norteño group that was looking for an accordionist, but Vico himself has declared that he was not a fan of Norteño music, but that he preferred music in English, being the Bee Gees his favorite group and “Hotel California” by Eagles his favorite song until then.

Testing himself as an accordionist with the aforementioned group, Vico began to take affection for Norteño music and then he joined his brothers Ismael and Rito to create a group, at first they got into debt to buy their first musical equipment, later they met Martín Herrera and Rito Islas, who participated as saxophonist and bassist respectively, and it was even Herrera who wanted the group to have sax arrangements like most of the groups in the region. A short time later, Rito Islas left the group and Chacho Muruato entered his place.

By 1990 and already with their first album recorded for the company Discos Monterrey (DMY) they received a call from Juan Carlos “El Gallo” Calderón (QEPD) who invited them to his program “ECO” on Televisa. After said presentation, Chacho decided to leave the group and by 1991 they met Mr. Ismael Medrano and again appeared on Televisa.

In 1992 they met Joey S. López, director of Discos Joey, and he invited them to join his company, for which they recorded for nine years and a total of seventeen productions, all with great success.
