The Dunbar Community Association (DCA) hosted their first annual Valentine’s banquet, February 11, 2023. This event was the first major scholarship fundraiser. DCA is an organization developed to support the citizens of the Dunbar Community and beyond.
The grand event was a formal banquet hosted by the DCA committee, serving over 100 individuals locally and out of town. Theme for the evening: “What The World Needs Now Is Love”. The banquet was held at Our Place, 301 S. Ripley Ave. in Littlefield, at 7 p.m.
The fun filled evening consisted of dinner: pork roast, roasted chicken breast, green been, mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, drinks, and dessert, entertainment, photo section, door prizes and dancing.
A phenomenal program:
The opening prayer was given by Pastor Lew Coleman of New Jerusalem in Littlefield and the welcome was given by Re. Rose Anna Nunley.
Speakers included:
Pastor James Price Jr. of New Hope Baptist Church, Amherst; Pastor Ray Trivenia of St. John Baptist Church, Littlefield, and the closing prayer was led by Rev. John D. McCarty of Peace Deliverance, Littlefield.
Music Selections: Kevin King of Sudan, Texas; Sherri Thornton – Garrett of Denver, Colorado and the Praise Dance was led by Akaya Hightower of Lubbock, Texas.
The entire dinner was fully prepared and setup by the DCA committee. An awesome job from Littlefield High School students whom assisted the committee in serving the attendees: X’Zander McDowell, Caden Weaver, Sheydon Silva and Danielle Garcia.
The atmosphere of elegance and love was created and designed by Barbara Faye Colbert. Photographer on site was Buster Clinton.
DCA looks forward to seeing you at our event next year.
