Nettes fall just short against Lady Raiders, 45-42

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team dropped their final game of pool play on Friday afternoon, falling just short against the Randall Lady Raiders, 45-42.

With the loss, the Nettes finished pool play 0-4 in the tournament.

Sudan took an early lead over the Lady Raiders, 8-5, in the first quarter, but Randall fired back in the second frame, outscoring Sudan, 13-11, to take a one-point lead, 19-18, into the locker room at halftime.

Randall came out hot in the second half, outscoring Sudan, 16-7, in the third quarter to extend their lead to, 34-26, heading into the final quarter of play. The Nettes poured in 16 points in the fourth quarter, but came up short against the Lady Raiders, 45-42.

Gracyn Shultz led the Nettes in scoring with 15 points, to go along with three rebounds and three steals, while Stevi Lockhart added 10 points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block. Elaine Martinez tallied five points, five rebound and one steal, while Blessy Montes added three points and one steal and Landree Gonzales chipped in five rebounds, three points, two assists and one block. Edette Herrera tallied three points and one rebound, while Braelyn Pointer contributed two points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal and Kambry Tolbert added one point and one block. Melo Rodriguez finished with two assists in the contest.
