The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity basketball team picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday with a, 74-58, victory over the Roosevelt Eagles at Wildcat Gymnasium.
With the win, the Wildcats improve to 1-0 overall on the season.
Littlfield opened the game with a 19-point first quarter, including six points from Elijah Salazar, to take a, 19-11, lead into the second frame. The Wildcats had a 26-point outburst in quarter number two that included 10 points from Omar Martinez and five points from Ryan Williams, pushing their lead to, 4526, going into the locker room at halftime.
Littlefield outscored the Eagles, 15-9, in the third quarter, but Roosevelt would not go down with out a fight, as the poured in 23 points in the third quarter behind a pair of three from Ethan Cervantes, five points each from Sebastian Sandoval and Michael Calzada and seven points from Kolby Mireles. However, the Wildcats prevailed, 74-58.
Martinez and Trevino led the Wildcats with 16 points apiece, while Salazar tallied 12 points and Zeke Saenz had 10 points. Williams netted nine points, while Major McNeese chipped in five points and Kam McCarty and MJ Randle each finished with three points in the contest.
The Wildcats hosted Tahoka on Friday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Monday with a home game against Post.
Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
