Week 12 of the Lamb County Leader-News Football Contest is in the books, which means that this year’s football contest has come to a close.
In the overall standings, Jr Harrell took first place with a total of 167 points, while David Neinast, Martin Duran and Brenda Herrell tied for second place with 165 points.
This week we had two contestants tie for the top mark, finishing with a score of 14-6 this week in Trevor Williams and Teresa Dabrowski. We also had three contestants tie for third place this week in Jimmy Garcia, Thomas Blackstone and Alma Castillo, who each finished 13-7.
The tie-breaker this week was the combined score of the game between Indiana and Ohio State, which was 70 points. Williams took first place with a guess of 48 points, while Teresa Dabrowski placed second and Jimmy Garcia took third place this week with a guess of 54 points on the tiebreaker, edging out Blackstone and Alma Castillo.
In the college ranks, Kansas State blasted Baylor, 31-3, while Purdue edged out Illinois, 31-24, and LSU survived a scare from Arkansas, 13-10. Alabama came back to beat Ole Miss, 20-24, while UCF defeated Tulane, 38-31, and Georgia taking down Mississippi State, 45-19.
TCU survived a tough contest against Texas, 17-10, while Texas Tech won a big game over Kansas, 43-28, and North Carolina took down Wake Forest, 36-34. Notre Dame survived a scare from Navy, 35-32.
In the NFL, the Buccaneers took down Seahawks, 21-16, while the Vikings took down the Bills, 3330, and the Steelers took down the Saints, 20-10. The Colts defeated the Raiders, 25-20, while the 49’ers took down the Chargers, 22-16.
The Cardinals took down the Rams, 27-17, while the Packers came back to beat the Cowboys in overtime, 31-28, and the Giants took down the Texans, 24-16. The Lions edged out the Bears, 31-30, and the Dolphins took down the Browns, 39-17.
The rest of the scores for this week are as follows: Those who finished 12-8 this week were, JR Herrell, David Neinast, Johnny Rosemond, Jan Smith, Mark Grace, Dewayne Hayes, Marcus Garcia, Charlie Smith and Sam Castillo, while Martin Duran, Marcelino Garcia Jr., Stevy Smith, Richard Orozco and Martin Duran Jr. each finished 119 this week.
Donna Neinast, J.C. Orozco, Oscar Sanchez, Devin Garcia and Robin Elliott each finished 10-10, while Brenda Herrell, Lonnie Neinast, Terrill Moorhead, Ed Dabrowski and Chris Ruiz each finished 9-9. Tommy Cloninger and Ivan Estrada each finished 88 this week.
