The Mayfield Brothers brought it to Dimmitt in the 1930s. Traditional Bluegrass music was born in the Appalachian Mountains in states like West Virginia, Arkansas and others. Some of the poorest people in the country struggled to build their own cabins and barns with no electricity or running water. They struggled to feed their families.
Every once in a while, friends and family would get together at somebody’s front porch or barn and bring their homemade instruments – banjos, guitars, mandolins, upright bass, Dobro’s, washtubs, saws and singers – to create bluegrass music. They would stomp their feet, dance and enjoy the fellowship. For a brief time, they had smiles on their faces and were happy.
Come enjoy some great bluegrass music, food and fellowship.
