The South Plains Community Action Association hosted the Atmos Blitz Friday, Sept. 9, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South Plains Community Action, located at 301 S. Ripley Ave.
The Atmos Blitz is when Atmos donates money to help pay for people’s utility bills around the community.
Patricia Gonsalez, who has been with SPCAA helping with the Atmos Blitz for six years, said they spent $18,000 in just a few hours.
“We help people that are disconnected and want to get reconnected,” Gonasalez said.
Gonsalez said they paid 100 utility bills on Friday in under four hours. She said she would like to thank United for donating pastries, coffee and drinks for the event. Gonsalez said she would also like to thank the locals who came out and donated enchiladas, rice and beans for the event.
The eligibility requirements are that the person must be an Atmos Energy Residential Customer and the bill must be in the applicant’s name, the person must bring a copy of the last bill and/or the account number, the person must not have received three Share the Warmth pledges in the past year, and no appointment necessary to apply for help at the event.
