Commissioners hold regular meeting on Monday

Lamb County Commissioners Court met on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022 at 9 a.m. for a regular meeting at the Lamb County Courthouse.

Judge James DeLoach gave the invocation, led the United States and Texas pledges and called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m.

No one spoke for public comment.

The Consent Agenda Items include: Consider and take appropriate action on minutes from the previous meeting, there were none; Consider and take appropriate action on budget and salary amendments and/or line item transfers, which there were none; Consider and take appropriate action on bills presented by County Auditor, Gina Jones. The Accounts Payable for Lamb County was $69,549.14. The Accounts Payable for the Lamb Healthcare Center was $531,857.38. The Accounts Payable totaled $601,406.52; Consider and take appropriate action on payroll, presented by Jerry Yarbrough. The Lamb County Payroll ending on Friday, July 29, 2022 was $143,117.39 and the Lamb Healthcare Center Payroll ending on Saturday, July 30, 2022 was $193,477.33; Consider and take appropriate action on departmental records, which there were none.

A motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short and was seconded by Commissioner Lee Logan to approve the consent agenda items. The motion carried.

Item number four on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on Elected Officials Salaries and Allowances. After some discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Cory DeBerry to approve the Elected Officials Salaries and Allowances. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Danny Short. The vote being called for with four voting Aye and one voting Nay. The motion carried and so ordered.

The next item on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on Proposed Tax Rate. A motion was made by Commissioner Cory DeBerry and was seconded by Commissioner Kent Lewis to approve the proposed tax rate. The motion carried.

A motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short and was seconded by Commissioner Cory DeBerry to approve the public hearing on tax increase scheduled for Monday, Aug. 29, 2022 at 10:15 a.m. The motion carried.

The next item on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on Public Hearing on 2023 Budget. A motion was made by Commissioner Lee Logan and was seconded by Commissioner Cory DeBerry to approve the public hearing on 2023 budget scheduled for Monday, Aug. 29, 2022 at 10:15 a.m. The motion carried.

Item number eight was to discuss Lamb Healthcare Center operations. No report given. No action was taken.

The next item on the agenda was to discuss future agenda items. The items discussed were the Aug. 29, 2022 Commissioner Court set to begin at 10 a.m., Aug. 9, 2022 meeting on the Ag Barn renovations, Aug. 9, 2022 Health Fair for Health Benefits Renewals and Aug. 10, 2022 Meeting in Plains, Texas. Another item discusses was the Nov. 8, 2022 Election Day Polling Place Location discussed with Precinct Barn 3 Ag Barn renovations must be completed by stock show time January 2023.

Item number 10 was the budget work session. Auditor Gina Jones needs to meet with each Commissioner before the final budget is set.

With there being no further business to discuss before the Commissioners Court, a motion was made by Commissioner Lee Logan to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Danny Short. The motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
