Detective Jeff Buschman, after nomination by his supervisor, command staff and several investigators and prosecutors, were hereby recognized as the Officer of the Fall and Officer of the Year for 2021.
During his first year as detective, his supervisor noted his true dedication to the children he was called to protect as a member of the crimes against children squad and his commitment to pursuing justice on their behalf. His skills, dedication and positive attitude are consistently recognized and has led to his early and continued success in solving cases involving some of our most vulnerable victims and his investigations has led to several child predators being sentenced to long terms in prison therefore protecting children in our community from further victimization.
Jeff, has worked on several high profile cases including one which the suspect had victimized more than two dozen children over the past 32 years. Thanks to his dedication, the suspect pled guilty and was sentenced to 360 months in prison. However, his commitment to the children of Lubbock means that during that year-long investigation, he continued to work other large cases leading to several other child predators receiving large sentences.
He has been commended by the FBI and the Lubbock County District Attorney’s Office for his professional and effective work being called “one of the most productive people that they have ever worked with.” His efforts to serve the children of Lubbock and protect them from predators is commendable.
Jeff Buschman is married to Alexe Buschman, the granddaughter of Janice and Jimmy Sokora. They have three children. Peggy Phariss is also a great grandmother. The family is very proud of Jeff’s accomplishment as an officer to help and enforce the law. Alexe’s parents are Randy and Regina Phariss and Jeff’s parents are Job and Janis Buschman
