The Lamb County Leader-News’ Big Bracket Challenge came to a close on Monday evening with the Kansas Jayhawks rallying past the North Carolina Tarheels, 72-69, to take the Men’s Championship game.
In the semi-finals on Saturday, Kansas took down Villanova, 81-65, while North Carolina knocked off Duke, 81-77.
Both, Lonnie Neinast and Zeb Petty picked the Jayhawks to make it to the Championship and win it all, but in the end Lonnie Neinast came out on top to claim first place with 112 points, while Zeb Petty finished second overall with 106 points.
The rest of the individual standings are as follows:
Brian Conkin finished third overall with 89 points, while Oscar Sanchez tallied 84 points, and Robert Conkin finished with 82 points. Tammy McDaniel’s final tally was 78 points, while Ben Eastepp finished with 70 points and Michael Cristan finished with 68 points. Robin Cooper and Shaun Lewallen finished tied with 62 points.
Dwight Lewallen and Janet Conkin finished tied with 61 points, while Brett Neinast’s final tally is 60 points. Richard Lewallen and John Hernandez each finished with 59 points, while Tara Conkin finished with 58 points.
Ronnie Martin has 56 points, while, Danny Davis and Lauren Petty are tied with 54 points and Sheryl Lewallen has 53 points.
Brenden Carter has 52 points, while Teresa Carter and Richard Carter are tied with 41 points, and Hannah Conkin has 37 points.
