Work begins on 24” water transmission line

The work is finally getting started on Littlefield’s $1.6 million partial replacement of the 24” water transmission line.

The contractor will be replacing the southernmost 5,000’ where all pipe failures, of the 60- year-old line, have occurred in recent history. This project cannot be coming too soon as the City Utility Division is repairing four leaks that have occurred in the old pipeline due to deterioration of past repair welds and rust areas.

“We are thankful the City leaders have authorized this repair,” City Manager Mitch Grant said. “We were fortunate to have received the first half of the $1.4 million Federal grant to help offset the cost.”

The contractor should be complete in May of this year.
