LCEC sponsoring Youth Tour our Contest

Young adults who are the successful candidates during “The Youth Tour Interview” will win an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., from June 12-21, 2022. Interviews will be done at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022, at Lamb County Electric Cooperative, 2415 South Phelps Ave., in Littlefield.

Three winners and an alternate will be selected. The Government-in-Action Youth Tour is a youth leadership program sponsored by Lamb County Electric Cooperative and organized by Texas Electric Cooperatives and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

For more than 50 years, electric cooperatives across the state and nation have been sending young adults to the nation’s capital for an action-packed tour. Highlights of the trip include

Highlights of the trip include meeting congressional leaders, visiting national monuments and historic sites, touring Smithsonian Institution museums, going on a boat cruise on the Potomac River, seeing a show at the Kennedy Center and rallying with more than 1,700 fellow students for a day of inspirational leadership speakers.

ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY

• A high school student classified as a sophomore, junior, or senior and attend high school at Amherst, Anton, Levelland, Littlefield, Olton, Sudan, Whiteface or Whitharral. OR

• A classified high school student who is in a state approved “home school” program or from a “transfer” high school and your parent or legal guardian is a member of Lamb County Electric Cooperative.

CONTEST RULES

• Participants will be required to appear before an independent panel of judges prepared to discuss different topics (listed on rule sheet)

• Participants will have 5–7 minutes of interview time

• Judges will have the opportunity to ask questions (HINT: know and understand electric cooperatives and some facts specifically about Lamb County Electric Cooperative)
