District Judge sentences 7 defendants

Seven defendants who were convicted of offfenses by indictments, recently went before Lamb County’s 154th District Judge, to receive Judgment of Conviction by the Court, to waiver Jury trials, and assess punishment.

Two cases against Oswald Fernandez Jr. Walker, were judged on Jan. 7, 2022, following his plea of guilt as charged by the indictments.

The charge on the first case was “Theft of Firearm” that occurred Jan. 23, 2021. He was sentenced to serve 90 days of confinement in the Lamb County Jail.

The second charge by the in dictment was Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1 .>=G<4G – Lesser Included, that occurred May 28, 2021.

He was sentenced to six years of confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-ID, to run concurrently with the days in the Lamb County Jail.

He is also to pay $1,000 in fines, $180 in restitution, $290 for court costs, and $665 for trimburement fees.

On Jan. 11, 2022, Abel Nino Aguilar (also known by several other names) waived the right to trial by jury and entered the guilty plea to the charge of Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1 <1G, in two cases that occurred Sept. 15, 2019.

In exchange for the defendant’s plea, the state recommended that the Court find that there is evidence to substantiate a finding of guilt, but defer that finding for two years.

He was sentenced to a two-year period of Deferred Adjudication Community Supervision, and he is also to pay $500 in fines, $290 for court costs; $515 for reimbursement fees; and $180 for restitution.

On Jan. 19, 2022, Julian Rangel Esquibel entered a guilty plea to the indictment charge of Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1/1-B <1G.

In exchange for his plea, the judge sentenced him to two years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justic, CID – State Jail. His sentence of confinement was suspended, and the defendant was placed on community supervision for two years.

He is also to pay $750 for fines, $180 for restitution, $290 for Court Costs, and $515 for reimbursement fees.

On Jan. 19, 2022, Abigail Carrasco appeared before the District 154th Judge to consider guilt to the indictment charge of “Possesssion of Controlled Substance PG 1 <1G,” that occurred on Feb. 7, 2017.

In exchange for the defendant’s plea of true, the state recommeded that the defendant’s punishment be 18 months in the State Jail Division of Texas Department of Criminal Justice, beginning on Jan. 19, 2022.

The defendant is also to pay $114 for Court Costs amd $500 for reimbursement fees.

On Jan. 20, 2022, Joseph Amiolindo Apodaca entered two guilty pleas to indictment charges in the 154th District Court.

The first charge is “Driving While Intoxicated, third or more,” and the second charge is Obstruction or Retaliation”, both of which occurred on the same day, Sept. 12, 2020.

The judge, finding the charges True Jurisdictional, sentenced the defendant to 10 years’ confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-JD, running concurrently, beginning Jan. 20, 2022.

He is also to pay $2,600 in fines, $290 for Court Costs, and $515 for reimbrsement fees.

On Jan. 25, 2022, Marybeth Kay Todd entered a guilty plea to the indictment charge of “Burglary of Habitation”, that occurred July 22, 2021.

The sentence of 3.5 years of confinement in the TDCJ-ID is suspended, and the defendant has been placed on Community Supervision for five years.

The defendant is also to pay $750 for fines, $290 for Court Costs, and $665 for reimbursement fees.

On Jan. 25, 2022, Alexandra Patrocina Escobedo waived the right to trial by jury, and entered the Guilty plea to the indictment charge of Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1 < 1G”, that occurred March 10, 2021.

In exchange for the Defendant’s plea, the state recommended that the Court fund that there is evidence to substantiate a finding of guilt, but defer that finding for a three-year period of Deferred Adjudication of Community Supervision.

He is also to pay $290 for Court Costs, $515 for reimbursement fees, and $180 for restitution, payable to the Texas Dept. of Public Safety: Restitution Accounting.
