LANDSCAPING – “We are excited to finally begin the landscaping phase of the new Aquatic Center,” Littlefield City Manager Mitch Grant said. Turfmasters, from Lubbock, won the bid and they are currently installing irrigation and rough grading the new jogging trail. The landscaping goes hand-in-hand with development of the concrete for the trail. The front and interior of the pool will receive sod after the irrigation is complete. The South and West sides will have evergreen trees along the border and there will be a few ornamental trees along Phelps. Also, there will be some decorative plantings in front of the bath house. Finally, the remaining areas will be planted with a temporary ground cover. In the spring, the temporary grass will be replaced with Bermuda in the majority of the park. “We are pleased with the pace of the contractors and we expect the project will fulfill the visions of our City leadership and provide another attraction for our citizens and visitors to enjoy,” he said.
